Victor Fries - Pencil Render by No-Sign-of-Sanity Victor Fries - Pencil Render by No-Sign-of-Sanity
This is the final pencil rendering of Victor Fries for my fan art piece of Mister Freeze. While I really like the way that final color image came out, I wanted to share the individual components of the piece without all of the fancy-shmancy textures and artsy-hubbub getting in the way.

This one is a bit strange since it seems to end abruptly in midair. It's basically a cutout that I'm using as a reflection for the final image that will be combined in Photoshop. I like the way it turned out I think the metal parts look all super-nifty. ;)

Nothing fancy here either, just graphite pencil on smooth Bristol paper, 11" x 16.5"

It really opens up my eyes to the process of making your picture... I thought it was done on one piece of paper.

Oh heavens no! Yes, I probably could have done it all as one piece, but it would have taken FOREVER!!! I've done reflections and transparencies traditionally before and it's just a nightmare trying to workout all of the half-tones and inbetween shades of color. So thank goodness for photoshop! =D

that is a truly amazing piece, i'm looking forward to seeing a colored version but i'm not sure it'll make it better, kinda has that old-Black and white frankenstein feel to the whole thing which works
but i'll have to see;)

Yeah, that's what I was shooting for... that old school monster movie feel. I tried to make the folds and wrinkles of his suit look like he was wrapped up like a futuristic mummy walking around in a living coffin.

If you'd like to color it be my guest. Just give me credit for the original pencils =D

lol... thanks but no thanks... the final colored piece was amazing, but i'm still glad you posted the parts because you can't see the detail on freeze as much as a reflection...
plus i'm looking for people to color my stuff as I'd rather be drawing;)

Thank you!

Oh when I say that I "rendered" it in pencil, I just mean that all of the tones and shading were done in pencil. That's all. Sorry, I didn't mean to confuse you

Thanks znow! I was trying to make him look like a futuristic mummy, with very high-tech metal parts and a very low-tech thick cloth suit. Like he spent just enough time and resources to get the suit running so as not to waste any money that could be spent finding a cure for his wife. I might be putting way too much thought into all of this but that's just the kind of guy I am... crazy.
