This is my first painting based on a Mother Goose rhyme. I did it a while ago as the first of a planned series of paintings that would be large enough to fill a book. I only got about three of them done though before I got distracted by other things. I intend to revisit this idea before I drop dead though. I've got the rest of the planned paintings already roughly designed, I just need to get off my ass and paint them!
The original Rhyme reads as follows:
"There was a Crooked man,
And he walked a Crooked mile,
He found a Crooked sixpence
Against a Crooked style;
He bought a Crooked cat
Which caught a Crooked mouse,
And they all lived together
In a little Crooked house."
Brilliant....this really brings back memories from my childhood.....perfectly executed.

Thanks again! I was really trying to make everything in this painting Crooked - crooked mountains, crooked hills, crooked rocks, even a crooked border. Also, even though it's a bit hard to notice, I gave everyone 1 yellow eye and 1 normal eye. Everybody’s got one: the man, the cat, the house (1 window is yellow), even the mouse has a yellow glow painted where his other eye should be. All just extra stuff to make it seem like they are all abnormal, but still all belong together.
I think it 's the little extras touches that make the illustration,the small detaails always pay off

Whoof; those are some tight trousers. I love that flowing crooked landscape, and that fluffy crooked mouse.
