Spawn Statue - Headshots by No-Sign-of-Sanity Spawn Statue - Headshots by No-Sign-of-Sanity
Just a few close-ups of my latest piece...

1/8th scale statue made from Super Sculpey, Magic-Sculp, wire mesh, blood, sweat, tears, and plenty of curse words.

This was my first time doing anything Spawn related so I spent a fair amount of time researching the toys, comics, etc. Although this piece is based on a comic cover I still did a fair amount of editing and design work to really make the transition to 3 dimensions. Plus the client I did it for really let me put my own stank on it, so although I think it's pretty faithful the to original comic design, I still feel like there's plenty of "me" in there as well.

I'm just glad it's done!

Spawn character Todd McFarlane

Impressive. It reminds me of the ending of an episode of Todd McFarlane's Spawn season 3.

Episode: Spawn is holding the skull of Genghis Khan, while Cogliostro tells him about the bounty hunter Jade.
Spawn: "Let her come..." while staring into the skull.

Thank you! It's just pink Super Sculpey mixed some black and some white Premo Sculpey to get a nice even gray colored clay.

Ahhh. Good plan. But I didn't think you'd make a cast. He looks incredibly delicate despite his girth. He'll pull through alright then?

Nope, no paint. He's got a coat of primer on right now and that's as far as he's gonna go. The guy I made it for intends to make a resin casting of the entire thing. So one of the resin copies will get painted by someone, but not the original and probably not by me. ;)

Thanks! I think it actually looks a lot better in person. A lot of those close ups are actually shown much bigger here than the actual sculpture. In reality, his head is only about an inch high or so.

Thank you! I'm very proud off the fact that you can remove the skull he's holding, but when it's in his hand the tips of all five fingers actually touch it. I had to sculpt the tips first, then bend the fingers into position, then sculpt the rest of the fingers afterward. Kinda screwy way to work, but it got the job done. ;)
