Artist's Comments

Just a few close-up headshots of the Firelord mini-bust I sculpted for Bowen Designs.

Again this head was warped/damaged during the production process and was replaced by a head sculpted by Randy Bowen himself. So the only place you’ll see this original pre-production head is right here! ;)

Check out the full Firelord mini-bust as I sculpted it here :pointr: [link]

And Check out the final production piece at the Bowen Designs site here :pointr: [link]

1/8th scale mini-bust of Firelord to be produced by Bowen Designs, Inc.
“Firelord” character © Marvel comics

Daily DeviationFirelord Mini-bust - Headshots by ~No-Sign-of-Sanity is superbly sculpted, the proportions and detailing work to the stern expression wonderfully match both the name and the fire like persona of the piece. The artist's skill in shaping and combining the fire like texture with the hair and eyebrows is carefully and painstakingly constructed. (Featured by ^Thebuild)

I like this one better. Bowen's interpretation seems more ... generic... more of a three dimensional interpretation of a comic drawing rather than a sculpture of a being.
mnnn firelord make jen a hungry girl

great work on that hair
See, I'm not feeling as lazy today so I finally got around to posting some stuff. ;P

I'm glad you like him! I spent forever sculpting that hair and sadly no one will ever see it in person. Dems the breaks I guess. ;)
Yeah just 2 different takes on the same character done in contrasting styles. I'm glad you like it! =D
yeah... the breaks.. how long did it take to do??
Booooo for production breakage....your sculpt is ton better than the final (no offense to Mr Bowen)...the hair, the facial expression, and the HAIR...wow. Thanks for sharing!!

The entire piece or just the hair? The whole bust took me about 4 weeks spread out over 3 months, and the hair itself took me a single 14 hour day I think. Sculpting takes a long time - at least for me it does. ;)
Excellent. They should've sold this one as is, without paint! With your sculpt, there's so much power in his face. He looks like he's a god and he knows it. Randy's is more generic, but it works for me cuz I love Randy's style. Bittersweet.
