This is actually the first piece I did for Bowen Designs back in late December, early January, but I held off on posting it until a bit of the dust had settled. What dust you ask? Well the dust of controversy of course! Long story short - the piece as I sculpted it here was partially distorted during the production process and sadly the head took the brunt of the warping. It ended up looking so much different that most of the fans didnt care for it and neither did I at that point. Luckily Randy Bowen came in and saved the day by replacing the warped head with one he sculpted himself. So the head you see here will not be on the actual production pieces and the only place itll ever be seen is right here on the interwebs.
I actually wish I had taken more pictures of the piece as I tweaked it a bit after theses photo were taken and added a bit more pizzazz to the flame effects everywhere before I delivered it. I figured Bah Ill just take some more pics of the finished production piece when I get my copies down the road. Itll be exactly the same only painted! Ummm not quite Doh! Thatll learn me!
You can see the production version up at the Bowen Designs site here [link]
So again, many props to Randy for letting me take a crack at Firelord and also for adding his sculpting magic to it to make everyone happy in the end.
I guess you used sculpey and are a regular user of polymer clays... ist normal for premo to be really rubbery? it fells like i'm sculpting rubber i force in some place and everything comes to the place i force its continually stretching the detail i sculpt... lokks like hot chewing gum... is it possible to smooth it?
This is incredible. I love the angle of the arms, the placement of the hands, the direction of the pole and the movement in the hair. The piece has excellent flow and balance.
i wish we can work together some day
Take care!
